Initial Ideas

We were given three briefs to chose from at the start of our project. We had to chose between an extract from a documentary, a short film in its entirety or an extract package from a new TV news programme. After a few short discussions it sounds like our group is leaning towards doing either documentary or the short story. I came up with an idea for each of these briefs:
The documentary
Show someone who is drug or alcohol dependant. The documentary would show the routine of the person but also how their family is affected. This would ensure that all members of the group are involved and would also give the audience an insight into the views of people, such as family members of addicts, that aren't normally brought forward. The documentary would be realistic and have a fairly educational narrative. We could film the documentary in the addict's home, everything would be messy and the atmosphere would be really gloomy. They would also be filmed in a park at night showing anti-social behaviour. There would also be shots of a suspicious looking drug deal. We would have to limit how much we show in terms of the anti-social behaviour as we wouldn't want to either offend or influence the audience. The family members' home would be completely different to show the contrast in lifestyle. The narration of the documentary would show things that the person hadn't revealed, such as medical history.
